EU extends anti-dumping duty on stainless steel seamless steel pipes to China for 5 years

China news agency, Brussels, March 6 (Reporter De Yongjian) The European Union announced on the 6th that it would extend the anti-dumping duty on stainless steel seamless steel pipes to China for five years, and continue to impose anti-dumping duties of 48.3% to 71.9% on Chinese products involved.

The European Commission announced this decision on the same day. Stainless steel seamless steel pipe is a kind of hollow steel, which is widely used in oil, natural gas and other transmission pipelines. Because of its light weight, it is also often used to manufacture mechanical parts and engineering structures.

The European Union's case of stainless steel seamless steel pipe to China started in 2010. In September of that year, the EU launched an anti-dumping investigation against the Chinese products involved; In December 2011, the final decision imposed anti-dumping duties ranging from 48.3% to 71.9% on Chinese products involved.

In December 2016, after the five-year anti-dumping duty expired, the EU launched an anti-dumping review investigation until the 6th when it announced to extend the anti-dumping duty on stainless steel seamless steel pipes to China for five years.

At the end of January this year, the EU finally decided to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese cast iron products, and at the beginning of February, it finally decided to impose anti-dumping duties of 17.2% to 27.9% on Chinese corrosion-resistant steel products.

EU statistics show that so far, the EU has implemented 53 anti-dumping measures against imported steel products, 27 of which involve Chinese steel products, accounting for up to 50%.

As for what the EU has done, China has repeatedly called for the EU to earnestly fulfill its obligations under Article 15 of the Protocol on China's accession to the WTO, stop using the "surrogate country" method and give fair treatment to Chinese enterprises in anti-dumping investigations.

At the same time, China emphasizes that the fundamental way to solve the steel problem is for all countries to take joint action to put the global economy on the path of stable development as soon as possible. Imprudent trade relief measures will not help solve the problem.

On the other hand, on the first day of this month, President Trump of the United States said that the United States would impose tariffs on imported steel and aluminum products, and the European Union publicly refuted it, emphasizing that it would take countermeasures to resolutely safeguard the interests of the European Union, and also pointed out that it would closely monitor market trends, and if necessary, it would take measures to "protect" the EU market and maintain stability.
